“What’s new?”
- ORCA: Smarter Rider Arrivals
- ORCA (Order Rejections Control & Assurance) looks to minimise auto-rejections, thus increasing order volumes and improving customer satisfaction and retention.
- ORCA times rider arrival with order readiness by factoring in prep time, order size, store busyness, and peak-hour patterns, so the rider shows up just as picking is completed. In the Picking App, you’ll also notice new tags, notifications, and traffic-light visuals that highlight rider arrival updates and order urgency.
- Rollout: Early access to selected partners from 15 Sep, with wider launch in October.
- Always-Synced Picking Progress: The Picking App now keeps picking progress continuously in sync with our systems. This makes order records more reliable, including handling edge cases where orders are auto-completed. This means fewer errors and faster resolution if issues are raised.
“Bug Fixes”
- Rider Arrival Notifications Fixed - Rider arrival sounds will now only play on the device actively picking the order. This removes unnecessary alerts across other devices in the store and ensures the right picker is notified at the right time.

"What’s new?”
- mTLS Update (Shadow Mode) - We’ve introduced mutual TLS (mTLS) to secure communication between the Picking App and Deliveroo servers. This ensures end-to-end encrypted authentication and prevents any interception attempts during network exchanges.
- Scope: Rolled out only to iMin partners
- Mode: Shadow mode (gathering logs only)
- Impact: No visible changes for pickers - this is a backend-only security enhancement.
- Goal: To validate performance and stability in a controlled environment before a broader rollout.
